Our verdict:
Friskis & Svettis is Oslo's best choice for group classes at an affordable price. For 249 NOK/month you get unlimited access to 100+ weekly classes across yoga, aerobics, dance and strength, with no contract. The downsides are that a sauna is not guaranteed, the centres are not open around the clock, and there are only five of them. If you want a sauna, SATS is the only commercial chain that has one, from 839 NOK/month for Basic in Oslo. If you need to train at night, Fitness24Seven (349 NOK) is the only commercial chain that is actually open.
Friskis & Svettis Oslo typically costs 249–299 NOK per month depending on location and current offers. The price includes unlimited group classes. No binding period – cancel with one month's notice.
Sauna is available at some Friskis & Svettis locations in Oslo, but not all. Check the specific centre you plan to use. If you want a sauna for certain, SATS has one at 15 Oslo clubs, among them Colosseum, Bislett, Storo and Solli Plass. SATS in Oslo costs 839 NOK/month for Basic, 849 NOK for Flexible and 999 NOK for Premium. Note: Evo Fitness, Fitness24Seven and Fresh Fitness have no sauna at any Oslo location.
Friskis & Svettis is already affordably priced with unlimited group classes from 249 NOK/month. Student discounts vary by location, so check your nearest Friskis centre. For comparison: Fitness24Seven costs 349 NOK/month for everyone with no separate student rate, Fresh Fitness has no student discount, Evo publishes no student price, and SATS gives a 20% student discount to students aged 18 and over.
Friskis & Svettis has 5 centers in Oslo: Carl Berner, Storo, Bislett, Nordstrand, and Holmenkollen (Ullernchausseen). All centers are included in a single membership.
Friskis & Svettis focuses on group classes (aerobics, yoga, strength, dance) and is cheaper: 249 to 299 NOK against SATS in Oslo, where Basic is 839 NOK, Flexible 849 NOK and Premium 999 NOK. SATS in return has more equipment, 32 clubs in Oslo and saunas at 15 of them, among them Colosseum, Bislett, Storo and Solli Plass. Choose Friskis if you want a community-oriented gym with lots of group classes for less money.
Yes, Friskis & Svettis has strength training equipment at all centers, but the selection is smaller than Evo or SATS. Friskis is primarily a group class center. For heavy strength equipment and free weights, consider Evo or SATS.
