Travelling to Hyrox Oslo from the UK or Europe
Getting there
Nova Spektrum is in Lillestrøm, not central Oslo — an important distinction when booking accommodation. From Oslo Airport (OSL): take the airport express or regional train direct to Lillestrøm, 10–15 min, runs every 10 min. From Oslo city centre (Oslo S): regional train to Lillestrøm, 17 min. The venue is a 10-min walk from Lillestrøm station. Do not drive — parking is extremely limited on race days and roads around the venue fill up hours before start.
Flights into Oslo (OSL): London Heathrow and Gatwick have daily direct flights (approx. 2h 10min). Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Copenhagen and Stockholm all have multiple daily connections. Norwegian Air and SAS are cheapest for UK routes — book at least 6–8 weeks out for race weekend, as flights fill quickly once Hyrox sells out.
Where to stay
Lillestrøm has a handful of hotels within walking distance of the venue — the most convenient is Thon Hotel Lillestrøm (5-min walk). These book out 2–3 months before the race. Oslo city centre is a reliable backup: 17 min by train from Oslo S to Lillestrøm, and you have far more hotel options at every price point. Budget option: Citybox Oslo or Thon Hotel Opera (both near Oslo S). Mid-range: Clarion Hotel The Hub (Oslo S). If you want to stay near the airport, Thon Hotel Oslo Airport is a 10-min train hop from Lillestrøm.
Training before race day
If you arrive a day or two early and want to train, SATS Oslo gives day passes (approx. 190 NOK / £14) at any of their 15+ Oslo locations — most have ski erg, rowing, and sandbags. CrossFit boxes in Oslo (CrossFit Oslo, CrossFit Grünerløkka) typically allow drop-in sessions for around 200–250 NOK and have full Hyrox-specific equipment including sleds. Book drop-ins online in advance.

On the day
Race announcements are in Norwegian and English. All staff speak English. Bag drop is available at the venue. The warm-up area has limited equipment — practise stations beforehand at your hotel gym or a nearby gym.
Race Day Checklist: Hyrox Oslo
Hyrox events run all day. Waves go from early morning to late afternoon. Here is what to do, hour by hour:
Lay out all your kit. Print your race number — there is no on-site printing at Nova Spektrum. Eat a carbohydrate-rich meal at 18:00–19:00. Hydrate well — at least 2 litres of water. Early night.
Arrive at Nova Spektrum. Take the train from Oslo S (17 min, runs every 10 min) — do not drive. Find registration and collect your timing chip.
Bag drop. Find the warm-up area. Light jog 10 min + dynamic mobility (leg swings, hip circles, arm circles).
Practise 2–3 stations lightly (ski erg, rowing). Drink 500ml water. Eat an energy bar if your last meal was more than 2 hours ago.
Move to your start block. Find your wave number in your confirmation email — it is not on the bib. Put your gels in a pocket.
Run the first 2km SLOWER than you think you should. The pace you start at is rarely the pace you can sustain. Find your rhythm by km 2.
Steady effort throughout. Breathe through each station — do not hold your breath. Drink water after station 2 and 4.
Assess your pacing. If you have energy: hold it. If you are hitting the wall: reduce running pace slightly, maintain station effort.
Wall balls (station 8) are coming. Save something in your arms. Sandbag lunges (station 7): break it into halves if needed.
Wall balls: set yourself a target per set (e.g. 20-20-20-20-20). Do not drop the ball between sets. Final 1km: push if you have anything left.
Collect your medal. Eat carbohydrates + protein within 30 min. Stretch. Check your time at hyrox.com/results.
